Fatma Al Jabri

Member

Fatma Al Jabri is Assistant Governnor for Financial Crime, Market Conduct and Consumer Protection at the Central Bank of the UAE and a Member of Al Etihad Payments.

Fatma Al Jabri is Assistant Governnor for Financial Crime, Market Conduct and Consumer Protection at the Central Bank of the UAE and a Member of Al Etihad Payments. 

With a remarkable career spanning over 28 years, Fatma Al-Jabri is a seasoned expert in banking and risk management, having held key leadership positions in number of global, local, commercial and Islamic banks in the UAE. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Science and MBA in International Business Law.

In July 2018, Fatma Al-Jabri was appointed by CBUAE as Head of Financial Consumer Protection Department with a mandate to transform the department from a complaint’s management function to a fully regulatory department that creates a consumer centric culture in the banking industry of UAE.

During Fatma’s course with CBUAE and by the end of 2020, a world class Consumer Protection Regulation were released aiming to ensure a fair treatment and protection of consumers, and sets out key objectives to ensure protection of consumers’ interest in their use of any financial product, service and relationship with Licensed Financial Institutions (LFIs).

In June of 2021, Fatma Al-Jabri was honored with the role of Assistant Governor, Financial Crime, Market Conduct and Consumer Protection in addition to being a member of the “National Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Illicit Organizations Committee

Jan Pibauer

Chief Executive Officer

Jan has over 15 years of experience in the payments industry, with a consistent record of delivering impactful national initiatives and transformations.

Jan has over 15 years of experience in the payments industry, with a consistent record of delivering impactful national initiatives and transformations. 

Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Al Etihad Payments, he leads the team transforming and modernizing the payments ecosystem in the UAE, including the recent launch of a new instant payments platform called Aani.

Before his role at Al Etihad Payments, Jan was the Chief Executive Officer at BankservAfrica, Africa’s largest clearing house, where he successfully implemented a number of transformative initiatives, including PayShap, a cloud-based domestic instant payments scheme in South Africa. Jan was also at the genesis of Canada’s payments modernization journey, having worked at Payments Canada as the Executive Director & Chief Information Office. 
Before joining the wold of digital payments, Jan held executive positions at various central banks, including Bank of Canada, Bank for International Settlement and the Czech National Bank, leading mission critical initiatives in the areas of Currency and Information Technology. 

With this track record, Jan continues to make significant contributions to the global payments industry, leveraging his deep understanding of technology and driving cross-sector collaboration, innovation and broad-scale transformation. He is passionate about financial technology and financial inclusion.

With over two decades of expertise in the financial services sector, Andrew McCormack is a seasoned payments executive currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Al Etihad Payments, UAE's national payment system operator.

With over two decades of expertise in the financial services sector, Andrew McCormack is a seasoned payments executive currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Al Etihad Payments, UAE's national payment system operator. 

Before his current role at Al Etihad Payments, Andrew played a pivotal role as the Centre Head of the Singapore BIS Innovation Hub. In this capacity, he was at the forefront of pioneering research focused on enhancing cross-border payment systems, exploring the potential of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), and advancing regulatory technology (regtech) and supervisory technology (suptech) frameworks.

Andrew is an alumnus of the Richard Ivey School of Business, where he earned his Executive MBA, underscoring his leadership and strategic acumen in the business world. Further solidifying his technical foundation, Andrew holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Carleton University, equipping him with a deep understanding of the technological underpinnings necessary for innovation in the financial services sector.

Andrew's vision for the future of payments is driven by a passion for financial technology and a dedication to fostering financial inclusion, ensuring that the benefits of modern financial services are widely accessible.

Dr. Tariq Al Hawi is the Chief Technology Officer at Al Etihad Payments, where he brings over twenty years of expertise in digital transformation, technology leadership, and cybersecurity to spearhead innovation within the UAE’s payment systems.

Dr. Tariq Al Hawi is the Chief Technology Officer at Al Etihad Payments, where he brings over twenty years of expertise in digital transformation, technology leadership, and cybersecurity to spearhead innovation within the UAE’s payment systems. He previously played a pivotal role in shaping and modernizing the UAE’s Digital Federal Government initiatives (TDRA) and made substantial contributions to advancing cybersecurity practices at Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (e&).

Throughout his career, Dr. Al Hawi has been instrumental in establishing the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team and developing ground breaking technological solutions, including UAE Pass. He has also led the creation of a world-class Threat Intelligence Operations Center, a Digital Forensics Lab, an advanced User-Experience Lab, and a Center of Digital Innovation.

Dr. Al Hawi holds a Doctorate in Engineering Management & Innovation and a Master’s in Computer Engineering with a focus on Cybersecurity. He is a distinguished alumnus of several prestigious leadership programs, including the Prime Minister Government Executive Leadership Program, the Public Sector Innovation Diploma Program from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, and the Diplomatic Executive Leadership Program from the Anwar Gargash Academy.

With a career dedicated to driving digital transformation and implementing innovative technology solutions, Dr. Al Hawi’s visionary leadership has been central to positioning the UAE as a global leader in digital government and cybersecurity.
